When the bearing is no longer available anywhere
In white-metal casting, a bearing shell is lined with a tin or lead alloy that adapts to the shaft and supports the oil film. It is the bearing design of classic engines — and for many power units the only one that remains true to the original.
When bearings are no longer made for an engine, three options remain: hunt for a bearing from old stock, convert to modern bearings — or cast a new one. We cast new: in our own foundry, to your shaft, with documented dimensions.
The process
Five steps to a new bearing

Measuring
Shaft and housing are measured and the tolerances recorded. Drawings help but are not required — we always measure.

Melting out
The old metal is melted out of the bearing shell; the shell is cleaned and tinned.

Casting
The casting is done in-house. We select the alloy for the application — speed, load, lubrication.

Machining
Boring to size, cutting in oil grooves and oil holes, checking the seating surfaces.

Hand-scraping
The running surface is hand-scraped to your own shaft — with blue contact marking, documented.
What you send
What we need from you
Ideally: the removed bearing or the complete crankshaft, where possible with the housing. Photos are enough for an initial assessment.

Duration and costs
What determines the price
Casting a bearing usually takes two to four weeks, depending on workload and the condition of the materials supplied. The price is determined by: the number and size of the bearings, the condition of shell and shaft, and whether housing work is needed.
After the initial assessment based on your photos you receive a rough estimate; after measuring, a binding quote. Only then do you decide.
